Where Can I Get The Best Food in New York City?
New York is one of the country's top gastronomic attractions. Some argue that this lively island has some of the best food in the world.
But, within that, which
restaurants are creating outstanding dishes that should be on your gastronomic
bucket list?
I'm not a fan of sticking to the fanciest and most expensive
restaurants – or the "most liked" on TripAdvisor. I'm looking for a
restaurant with a great environment, good food, and reasonable prices.
Some of the establishments on this list have Michelin stars,
while others have sand on the floor. Some have only been open for a year but
have already developed a cult following.
Whatever the story, here's where to get the best food in New York City!
Cafe Habana
Cafe Habana, a New York institution, is a casual yet
energetic Cuban restaurant on a busy corner of Nolita. Habana, which is often
busy, provides cotija and chili covered corn, fish tacos, and pork sandwiches.
Momofuku Noodle Bar
Momofuku Noodle was the first Momofuku location to launch in
2004, and it is still going strong 14 years later. The menu is not solely
focused on noodle meals, and there are a variety of other foods that play
important supporting roles.
The famed pork, shrimp, and shiitake buns are unique and
tasty, and the spicy cucumbers are unforgettable. Whether it's cold outside or
not, this is a restaurant I'd like to return to at any time of year.
Supper
Supper is a restaurant that I return to time and again,
which says a lot when you live in a city where new restaurants open all the
time. Supper is a consistently consistent and excellent event, dimly
illuminated and divided into a slew of small rooms distributed throughout the
restaurant.
The burrata on top of tomatoes and basil is a big dish that
you must have. The pasta Pomodoro e Basilico with stracciatella and the
spaghetti Limone are also outstanding.
Jeffrey’s Grocery
Every city requires a diverse, relaxed, and easily
accessible restaurant scene. There are many in New York, but Jeffrey's Grocery
is my favorite.
The food will not transform your life, but the quality of
the food will help you to stay healthy. Try the seared squid and tuna steak
salad, or deviate from the plan with a side of jalapeno and honey butter
cornbread.
L’Artusi
When my best friend from Australia was in town, I went to
L'Artusi in the West Village with a huge bunch of friends. I came here with my
family to celebrate my 34th birthday. I brought a coworker here for our
Christmas meal.
L'Artusi is definitely the ideal venue for any event, ready
to welcome you no matter what. My favorite dishes are the crudo and the ricotta
salata, chilis, and fried egg on top of either asparagus or mushrooms.
Roberta’s
Roberta's was formerly the hottest spot in town (or in
Brooklyn). However, even if the excitement has subsided, it continues to
provide some of the best food in New York.
The layout is open and exciting, with a lot of energy. In
the summer, you may relax with drinks at the picnic tables out back, and in the
winter, they transform the same space into what feels like a ski chalet.
The stracciatella with toasted bread is a delicious
appetizer, followed by the roasted sweet potato with buttermilk and Calabrian
chili. Beastmaster and Lil' Stinker pizzas are doughy and scrumptious.
Frankies Spuntino 457
Frankies 457 in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, epitomizes a
pleasant neighborhood hangout. It is also a spot that you should see and
experience even if you do not live nearby.
It was the first of its sort when it first appeared on the
scene in 2004. Now, the owners, popularly known as "The Franks," are
well-known all over the world, frequently partnering with various chefs or
simply doing what they do best right here in NYC.
Frankie's has a large menu. There are many crostini
alternatives, meatballs, basic salads, and the star of every meal, homemade
cavatelli with sausage and brown sage butter.
Locanda Verde
Locanda Verde is one of those New York City places that
looks and sounds precisely the same. Large, dark furnishings, lofty ceilings,
and a prominently displayed booze rack.
The whipped ricotta starter is one of the nicest things
you'll ever taste, and the homemade pasta is up there with the best in New
York. Locanda is also suitable for any occasion, including dinner with parents,
dinner with friends, brunches, and business lunches. It's always the same.
Mile End Delicatessen
Mile End, a Brooklyn outpost, is a popular local hangout. I
enjoy stopping by their six-person counter in the middle of the day on
Saturdays to watch the chefs flip eggs and hash browns on the grill while reading
a good book or reading the latest issue of Travel and Leisure.
Mary’s Fish Camp
Mary's Fish Camp, located in one of New York City's most
picturesque neighborhoods, will always hold a particular place in my heart. It
stands out in a city that has a lot to offer since it is beachy, nautical, and
casual.
Though their specialties such as the fish tacos and tuna burger are well-executed and worth tasting, the lobster roll is difficult to resist. It's loaded with mayonnaise, chunky, and well worth the price.
